WomenNC, on behalf of the NC Cities for CEDAW Coalition, partnered with the Public Policy department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Spring 2016 semester for best practices research to implement the principles of CEDAW at the local level. After a full semester of work, we are happy to share with you the final deliverables the team of four students produced! The first deliverable is a ‘Status of Women in North Carolina’ report compiled to emphasize existing data that supports the principles of CEDAW. The next deliverable is a ‘Work Plan’ that outlines best practices for both WomenNC and the NC Cities for CEDAW coalition to implement in order to expand the coalition and to create stakeholders of women’s equal rights at the local level in the triangle area. WomenNC is excited to explore the realignment of our student fellowship program to focus on CEDAW related issues, to young champions of CEDAW in local universities around the area.
