Lora Pilcher: Notable NC Woman

Published
October 29, 2021

This month's Notable NC Woman is Lora Pilcher! She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and provides affirming and accessible therapy to LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in North Carolina through her private telemental health practice, Kaleidoscope Evolution Counseling. She started my practice in the middle of the pandemic last year to fill a need in the community, specifically in rural NC. She also works part-time with the LGBT Center of Raleigh as their Youth & Family Programs Coordinator. 🏳️‍🌈 The LGBT center of Raleigh's Youth & Family programs currently serves individuals 8-24 years of age through both in-person and virtual programming for the opportunity to learn leadership, advocacy, and social justice skills. Lora also volunteers locally with Sandhills Pride.

In both her practice and the work she does at the LGBT center of Raleigh, Lora works to empower Transgender and Cis women through access to resources, education, advocacy, and support.🏳️‍⚧️  Through the youth and family programs at the center, Lora empowers Transgender and Cis young women to make change within themselves and their communities. The center also provides empowerment to youth and young adults through resources, programming, discussion groups, free HIV/STD testing, inclusive consent/sex education, ASPYRE leadership camp, and life skills.

Lora considers herself an Ally. She feels it's important to not only demonstrate this in the work she does, but also in her personal life by providing support, advocating, education, voting, empowerment, and taking action.
